Thawing of Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) and Red Blood Cell Concentrate with the Barkey Plasmatherm
The Barkey Plasmatherm is our easy-to-use solution for warming and thawing Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), red blood cell concentrate (RBC), as well as cryopreserved preparations such as stem cell therapies (HPC). Our dry temperature-controlled medical device is the first choice when it comes to efficient thawing, keeping hospital hygiene in mind.
- Dry thawing process
No direct contact with water. - Hospital hygiene
Minimal machine maintenance required. - Ease of use
Shortcut programs and minimal maintenance.
Hygiene
Safety must be ensured for patients, users, and samples. All versions of the Plasmatherm operate exclusively with closed water circuits, avoiding direct contact with water and ensuring hospital hygiene.
Safety
Three safety mechanisms are implemented in our units: electronic and mechanical overtemperature protection, leak control with a humidity sensor, and a transparent lid that allows continuous visual monitoring.

Barkey Plasmatherm
Predefined programs for blood, plasma (FFP), and a special user program can be customized in terms of time (if they comply with applicable national transfusion guidelines). Additionally, the plasma, HPC, and user programs can be customized in terms of temperature. The Barkey Plasmatherm can be used in a temperature range between +37°C and +45°C (in the USA, only up to +37°C).

Barkey Plasmatherm V – the fastest Plasmatherm ever
Due to its size and the 28° horizontal rotation, the Smart Motion Paddle ensures optimal heat distribution in the temperature control cushions of the Barkey Plasmatherm V. As a result, FFP and red blood cell concentrates (RBC), for example, can be thawed up to 30%* faster. Optimal thawing results are achieved with up to four products at a time.
